Primary Function

  • Performs all procedures associated with the collection and processing of urine samples for drug screen analysis.

Scope of work

The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position.

  • Demonstrates teamwork and professionalism in all interactions with co-workers.
  • Understands and adheres to all safety policies.
  • Maintains a safe, clean working environment.
  • Alerts supervisors of client issues, staff issues, safety issues, etc.
  • Greets and interacts with each client in a courteous, respectful and professional manner.
  • Performs all procedures associated with the collection and processing of urine samples for drug screen analysis with an accuracy rate of 99%.
  • Observes collection of urine samples.
  • Performs Breathalyzer tests.
  • Performs PEth collection and processes necessary paperwork.
  • Collects hair samples for analysis and processes necessary paperwork.
  • Performs collection of oral fluid samples and processes necessary paperwork.
  • Performs manual CLIA waived tests.
  • Delivers manual CLIA waived test results to appropriate department.
  • Escorts patients to various areas within the building when necessary.
  • Bills urine collection transactions after every observed urine collection.
  • Performs sorting, billing and filing of paperwork.
  • Accessions urine samples in laboratory when needed.
  • Discards samples when directed by supervisor to do so.
  • Prepares Quest House paperwork when assigned.
  • Records ?Incompletes? when assigned.
  • Pulls samples from sample refrigerator for confirmation, prepares paperwork and packages samples for shipping; returns remainder of sample to sample freezer when assigned.
  • Maintains inventory of needed supplies; alerts supervisors of needed materials and restocks as needed.
  • Assists with unpacking of supplies and placing supplies in designated areas. Distributes packing slips to supervisors.
  • Administrative duties as needed.
  • Completes all other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports. Ability to speak effectively. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form.

Physical requirements

  • Regularly required to use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or controls. Frequently required to stand, walk, sit and talk or hear. Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Specific vision requirements include close distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Employee must occasionally work at other locations.
