Maintenance Specialist

Primary function

  • Responsible for the general maintenance and repair of the Agency facilities.

Scope of work

The duties listed below are intended only as an illustration of the various types of work that may be performed.  The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position.

  • Paint and perform structural repairs to masonry, woodwork, and furnishings of building.
  • Inspect completed work for conformance to specifications and standards.
  • Study maintenance request schedule and estimate hours required for completion of assignment.
  • Adhere and enforce safety regulations.
  • Establish or adjust work procedures to meet schedules.
  • Maintain time and production records.
  • Attend to basic repairs and routine maintenance duties including light bulbs, smoke detectors and batteries, painting, property cleanliness.
  • Change locks.
  • Communicate and make recommendations to supervisor on repairs beyond capabilities.
  • Assist in verification of major repairs by outside services.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory and safekeeping standards for all tools and materials.
  • Maintaining documentation and maintenance for company vehicles within deadlines. 
  • Respond to all alarm calls and provide emergency coverage for all locations.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.  Fundamental knowledge of purchasing procedures and materials management required.  Knowledge of OSHA regulations helpful.
